This duo was my daughter's (Woody's) idea. The degree of difficulty for Woody was 4 out of 10 and Buzz was 5 of 10 (only because it required more sewing).
Supplies:
Cowboy hat
Yellow button down shirt
White vest (all purchased at Amvets for about $10)
Blue jeans and boots (from the closet)
Red bandanna
Red Sharpie
White jeans
White long sleeve
Purple hoodie
Green button down (All 4 were Amvets- $10)
Black Sharpie
I bought a 2 squares of black felt, one red, one gold, and a square of sparkly gold scrapbook paper.
Buzz's wings/jet pack was $8.99 at a Halloween store, kid section. I'd planned to make that initially, but found myself shorter on time than I'd planned.
The most difficult part of Woody was drawing straight red lines on that shirt with a Sharpie, good grief. Otherwise, I just cut "cow spots" from black felt and sewed them onto the white vest. Cut 2 ovals from the yellow felt and 1 to match from the scrap book paper. I cut 2 slits to slide a belt through 1 of the felt ovals, and sewed all 3 ovals together for the belt buckle.
For Buzz, I cut off and used the top of a green shirt over the white shirt, and pretty much cut up the purple hoodie. I used the cuffs from the sleeves to elongate the sleeves on the white shirt, and add some contrast. I cut 2 inch rings from one sleeve and slid them onto the jeans as "knee pads" I attached the hood to the white shirt as well, but you can't see it in the picture, and added 2 strips of purple under the green- and girlfriend decided she wanted a headband, so we tied a strip of the hoodie around her head too. The red felt made up the buttons/controls, those were attached to the sleeve with glue, and sewn onto the shirt. Yellow felt and black Sharpie for the "Lightyear" name plate, and TADA! Teenage girls who didn't go out as slutty kitties for Halloween. They got so many compliments, and really did look awesome. Best idea ever!
